MY EXPERIENCE AS AN INTERN AT KATHMANDU UNIVERSITY

It is difficult to leave your playful teenager and step into responsible adulthood.

My internship at Kathmandu University (KU) was my first step towards my future yearning. I am truly honored to have worked as an intern at KU, as that opportunity helped me expand my knowledge and growth personally and professionally.

During my internship at Kathmandu University, I had the privilege to work professionally under the guidance of KU professors and staff. Those experiences enhanced my understanding of the learning process. I also understood that learning is a continuous process and is limitless. Some of the skills I developed during my internship were effective communication, familiarizing myself with academic tools, advancing my technical skills, documenting various processes, helping with printing files, assisting with interviews, etc.

Initiating conversations effectively and confidently is a fundamental aspect that is essential in human life. It is an invaluable skill that I learned which allows me to engage with others and collaborate efficiently. I also gained basic knowledge about professional email communication during my internship. I participated in setting up and managing the course content, familiarizing myself with Moodle and academic settings. It was a great experience engaging in technical terms, educational tools, and technologies that boosted my confidence in involving myself with scientific advancements.

I also volunteered to document various processes, an experience that taught me the importance of keeping accurate and clear records. Whether the records are managed for governmental affairs, project management, finance and accounting, research, business, law, or education, documentation is critical for maintaining organization and clarity. On the other practical side of the internship, I was taught the value of details and time management during working hours.

I helped with printing files and managed materials for classes and events, where I learned about organization, time management, attention to detail, problem-solving, adaptability, collaboration, budgeting, communication, logistics planning, and responsibility. Next, one of the most engaging parts of my internship was assisting with interviews. I understood human resources, the importance of confidence, and the need for a cheerful and disciplined appearance after observing how professionals conduct interviews. This experience sharpened my interpersonal skills and gave me a deeper understanding of decision-making and professionalism.

Overall, my internship at Kathmandu University was an exceptionally worthy and precious experience. My personal and professional growth after working as an intern has developed surprisingly and this experience has also prepared me to face new challenges in life, enhanced me with lots of confidence, and broadened my sight to search various routes available in my future career. Therefore, I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to work as an intern at Kathmandu University. Thank you!
